Altered brain insulin signaling is associated with cognitive performance and Alzheimer’s disease


  • A critical node of insulin signaling in the brain, serine/threonine-protein kinase (AKT), was found to be related to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology and proximate-to-death cognitive performance in older people.

Why this matters ?

    These findings support further research into clinically relevant targets such as how nutrition may influence insulin signaling and therefore cognition and AD.
