In a lecture at AOCN 2021, Prof. David Liebeskind of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in Los Angeles, CA, USA, discussed the promise and limitations of integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into acute stroke care.
Prof. Liebeskind pointed out some important caveats, including avoiding oversimplification. “In stroke, we try to make things as simple as possible to develop protocols, guidelines, and consensus statements about how we should be treating patients from one case to the next. However, this is not so easy because stroke is a complex issue and each case is a little different.”
