Neurofilament light as a biomarker in subarachnoid hemorrhage

  • Concentrations of neurofilament light (NfL) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum following subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) are predictive for SAH clinical outcomes.

Why this matters

Use of NfL as a biomarker in SAH helps describe variance in clinical outcomes; NfL concentration has potential application as an endpoint in clinical trials or to tailor clinical care to predicted progression.
