Takeaway
Early examination (i.e., post-symptom onset) of a patient’s hippocampal diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) lesions can improve the diagnosis of transient global amnesia (TGA).
Why this matters ?
The clinical diagnosis of transient global amnesia remains challenging, and a number of patients receive an uncertain diagnosis. However, by adding DWI lesion data, this can be resolved in a vast number of cases and thus should be considered as an adjunct diagnosis tool.
